Cambridge House British International School is a highly distinguished British international school and was the first in Spain to gain both BSO (British School Overseas) and NABSS (National Association for British Schools in Spain) accreditation.
Founded more than 30 years ago in Valencia (East Spain), this progressive school with strong family values and delivering the English National Curriculum now has 1,700 students and has evolved to meet the needs of modern learners. Students aged three to 18 attend the school and follow the National English Early Years Framework and the English National Curriculum. Year 12 and 13 students take A-levels and gain accreditation for the Spanish Baccalaureate and can also choose to follow a Higher National Diploma (HND) route, providing vocational pathways.
We wish to recruit an enthusiastic and dynamic specialist teacher of Biology to cover temporarily at our successful and expanding school. The successful applicant will be able to teach across the secondary age and ability range, including IGCSE and A-levels. We are looking for someone to join an experienced and successful secondary team who has a passion for developing high quality teaching and learning which ensures excellent student progress and engagement.
REQUIREMENTS:
- A first degree in Biology or a relevant degree.
- A P.G.C.E. or equivalent UK Teacher Education qualification.
- Proficient level of English (Mother tongue / C2)
- Secure subject knowledge to teach Biology across the secondary age range including IGCSE and A level.
- A clear philosophy on student achievement.
- An ability to challenge all students to achieve excellent progress, appropriate to their needs.
- An ability to contribute meaningfully to the pastoral welfare of students in your care.
- An up to date knowledge of current educational developments.
SUBJECT TEACHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead by example to uphold the school’s mission statement and promote the school’s values of: CURIOSITY, KINDNESS, ENTHUSIASM, COMMUNITY SPIRIT & PERSEVERANCE
- Assist in the planning, preparing and delivering of departmental schemes of work in accordance with the National Curriculum and with students’ needs and interests.
- Create an effective and stimulating learning environment.
- Mark, test, assess and record in line with school and department policy.
- Use progress data to inform subject planning.
- Complete end of term reports in line with school policy.
- Liaise with SLT regarding any problems or concerns over individual students.
- Enforce the school rules in the classroom, the school building and the playground.
- Meet regularly with parents to discuss pupil progress.
- Attend two Saturday morning parent events as well as parent evenings during the year.
- Attend and participate in weekly meetings (Mondays 4.30pm and Thursdays 9.00am).
- Keep abreast of developments within your subject area.
- Undertake all other reasonable duties as requested by the Senior Leadership and Management Team.
